A video for Chris Taylor, directed by LordFace in a disused hospital outside Paris. Graffitied corridors, broken glass underfoot, a jib carried in and a Steadicam. Called before daylight, in January, in a building with no windows left.
Un clip pour Chris Taylor, réalisé par LordFace dans un hôpital désaffecté aux portes de Paris. Des couloirs tagués, du verre brisé sous les pieds, une grue montée sur place et un Steadicam. Convocation avant le jour, en janvier, dans un bâtiment sans vitres.
A disused hospital somewhere around Paris, taken over for a morning. Corridors running the length of the building with doorways off both sides, every surface tagged, glass and plaster underfoot. Nothing had to be dressed — the location was already the art direction.
Un hôpital désaffecté quelque part autour de Paris, investi pour une matinée. Des couloirs qui filent sur toute la longueur du bâtiment avec des portes des deux côtés, chaque surface taguée, du verre et du plâtre sous les pieds. Rien n'a eu besoin d'être décoré — le lieu faisait déjà la direction artistique.
Called before daylight and shot into the morning. Everyone in these photographs has their hood up indoors, which dates the day better than any file would: this is January, in a building with no windows left and no heating to speak of.
Convocation avant le jour, tournage dans la matinée. Tout le monde a la capuche sur la tête à l'intérieur, et ça date la journée mieux qu'un fichier : on est en janvier, dans un bâtiment sans vitres et sans chauffage.
A jib was brought into the building, along with a Steadicam and the Nikon. Getting a crane into a derelict corridor is a decision you make once and then live with all morning — but it is what turns a walk down a hallway into a move.
Un bras de grue a été monté dans le bâtiment, avec un Steadicam et le Nikon. Faire entrer une grue dans un couloir en ruine, c'est une décision qu'on prend une fois et qu'on assume toute la matinée — mais c'est elle qui transforme une marche dans un corridor en mouvement.
This was the first of a pair: the hospital one morning, and a hired studio with a white cyclorama the next day for the second video. Same artist, same director, same camera — and two rooms with nothing whatever in common. LordFace directed; Chris Taylor is the artist.
C'était le premier d'un doublé : l'hôpital un matin, et un studio loué avec cyclo blanc le lendemain pour le second clip. Même artiste, même réalisateur, même caméra — et deux lieux qui n'ont rien en commun. LordFace réalisait ; Chris Taylor est l'artiste.
